Togami Breaks Outdoor Pole Vault Record at East Coast Relays

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 2, 2025) – The final regular season outdoor track & field meet got underway on Friday afternoon as the Gamecocks completed day one of the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla.

Hannah Togami highlighted the day as she reached new heights unseen in program history in the women’s pole vault. The sophomore vaulter cleared a personal best 4.27m (14-0) for the win, setting a new program record in the process. Togami surpassed Petra Olsen who previously held the record of 4.26m (13-11.75) set in 2014. Additionally, Togami moves into 14th place on NCAA East Regional leaderboard with just one meet remaining before the regional meet.

Togami was followed by senior pole vaulter Emma Stone who placed third overall when she cleared an outdoor personal best height of 3.97m (13-0.25). Stone’s clearance of 3.97m now ranks ninth all-time in program history.

JaMeesia Ford was responsible for a win in the women’s 200m after crossing the finish line in 22.51, having to run into a strong headwind of -2.2. She finished ahead of teammate Jayla Jamison who finished second after clocking 23.13 (-2.2) and Cynteria James who placed fourth in the same heat when she ran 23.26 (-2.2). Madison Childress finished runner-up in the women’s long jump when she secured a new outdoor personal best mark of 5.95m (19-6.25).

On the men’s side, Conor Reilly picked up a win of his own in the men’s pole vault after clearing a personal best height of 5.17m (16-11.5) to rank 41st in the East Region. Reilly was followed by teammate Parker Samuelson who tied his outdoor personal best of 5.07m (16-7.5).

Channing Ferguson turned in a pair of silver medal finishes in both the high jump and the long jump. The veteran jumper began his day in the men’s long jump, clearing 2.10m (6-10.75) for the runner-up finish. He was able to cap off his night with a new wind-legal personal best in the men’s long jump, extending his jump for a mark of 7.73m (25-4.5).

The final performance of note came from Elijah Poore in the men’s 3K steeplechase as he turned in a personal best time of 9:11.27 to place fourth overall. More importantly, Poore improved on his already-claimed seventh place spot in the program leaderboard.
