
Sam Gress Earns All-SEC Second Team and All-Defensive Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina pitcher Sam Gress was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the All-Defensive Team as announced by the conference Friday (May 9).
Gress becomes the first Carolina pitcher to be named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and the first Gamecock since 2018 to earn the honor. It’s the third consecutive season a South Carolina pitcher earned All-SEC honors.
She finished SEC play leading the league with four saves and 21 appearances. She was also sixth with a 3.17 ERA, and seventh with 57 strikeouts and seven victories. Gress held opponents to a .241 batting average in 77 1-3 innings pitched.
Defensively, Gress did not commit an error in 16 chances during league play. She tallied two putouts and 14 assists. She also turned a pair of double plays, including one to end the game in a win over Alabama.
