Gamecocks Open NCAA Regional Play Out West Monday

South Carolina Athletics

South Carolina the No. 4 seed this week in the 14-team NCAA Bremerton Regional, seeking its first NCAA Championship appearance since 2019

BREMERTON, Wash. – No. 20 South Carolina is set to open play at the NCAA Bremerton Regional on Monday morning at Gold Mountain Golf Club. The fourth-seeded Gamecocks will be paired with USF and Colorado, teeing off from No. 10 at 11:30 a.m. (ET) the opening 18 holes.

Scoreboard Powered by Clippd will have live scoring for the event here.

Teams will play 54-holes of stroke play at six different regional sites around the nation this week with the top-five teams at each site advancing to the NCAA Championship May 23-28 at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif. The highest finishing individual on a non-advancing team will also advance to the NCAA Championship. La Costa is hosting the National Championship for the second consecutive year with Texas serving as the host school.

Redshirt junior Frankie Harris and senior All-American Nathan Franks remain in the top two spots in the lineup joined by junior Zach Adams and sophomore Brock Blais. Franks won The Q to earn an at-large exemption into the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic this past week. He made the cut and finished T-37th at 5-under for the tournament today at Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Franks is en route to join the team for tomorrow morning’s opening round. The Gamecocks played in The Tindall in Sammamish, Wash. back in the fall. The team played a round at Gold Mountain Golf Club during its trip, so Franks has familiarity with the course already despite missing today’s NCAA Regional practice round.

Redshirt freshman Ismael Encinas makes a return to the lineup and will be the first player off for the Gamecocks in the five-spot. Freshman Marek Fleming will serve as the team’s sixth player substitute eligible to sub in at the conclusion of any round in the tournament.

Carolina is joined by a trio of top-25 teams in the regional field this week with No. 5 Arizona State, No. 8 Florida (the SEC Champions) and No. 17 Utah.

The Gamecocks are seeking the program’s first trip to the NCAA Championship since 2019 under first-year head coach Rob Bradley. It’s been a successful first season for Bradley and his team with a top-25 ranking most of the season thanks to eight top-five finishes in nine regular season events.

A top-five finish in Bremerton, which is located just outside Seattle, will be the 22nd all-time NCAA Championship appearance for the program. The last time the Gamecocks made the NCAA Championship in 2019 was also on the west coast at the NCAA Pullman Regional. The team got through Bremerton as the top seed back in 2015 finishing second in the 14-team field. The All-American duo of Matt NeSmith and Will Starke finished in the top-10 to lead South Carolina at Gold Mountain.
