
Gamecocks Primed for SEC Outdoor Championship
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 14, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field will kick off postseason competition this week as the Gamecocks are in Lexington, Ky. for the SEC Outdoor Championship.

Ticket Information
Fans that are interested in attending the event in the Lexington area can do so for a fee. Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for students, covering all three days. Single day tickets are available for purchase at $20 for adults and $15 for students.
Meet Information
The best track & field teams in the country will be competing at one time this weekend for the right to call themselves SEC Outdoor Champions. On the women’s side, 11 of the 16 competing teams are ranked inside the USTFCCCA Top 25 rankings. Georgia enters as the highest-ranked squad, sitting atop the rankings. Arkansas (No. 3), Texas A&M (No. 4), and South Carolina (No. 6) round out the Top 10 in the national poll. On the men’s side, 12 teams rank inside the Top 25, with Texas A&M leading the charge at No. 2 nationally. The Aggies are followed by Tennessee (No. 3), Georgia (No. 5), Arkansas (No. 9) and Auburn (No. 10) inside the Top 10 rankings.
The SEC Championship is a scored meet. The top eight scorers in each event will result in points for their teams in the following format (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). Competitors who finish top three in events earn the title of All-SEC, with the top finisher earning a spot on the First Team, runner-up will land on the Second Team and the bronze medalist will take a spot on the Third Team.
The meet will start on Thursday with the decathlon events beginning at 11:30 a.m. The first true field event will be the women’s hammer throw at noon, while the first track event will be the women’s 800-meter prelims at 5:30 p.m. Friday’s festivities will begin with the final five decathlon events beginning at 11 a.m., with the first field event starting at 3:30 p.m. (women’s long jump) and the first track event starting at 5 p.m. (women’s 100-meter hurdle prelims). Saturday’s closing day will start with women’s discus at 2:30 p.m. and conclude with the men’s and women’s 4×400-meter relay beginning at 9:30 p.m.
One Final Ride
This weekend’s SEC Outdoor Championship will serve as the final chance for athletes to qualify for the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 28-31. To qualify for the East Regionals, individuals must be ranked inside the Top 48, while relays need to sit Top 24.
As it stands right now, the Gamecocks have 38 East Regional qualifying marks heading into the final opportunity this weekend. Of the 38 marks, 15 are ranked inside the Top 10 and 10 of those 15 are Top five in the regional rankings.
