No. 3 Gamecocks Open Play at NCAA Championship Friday

CARLSBAD, Calif. – No. 3 South Carolina will open play at the 2025 NCAA Championship on Friday as opening round action gets underway. The Gamecocks, who are paired with top-ranked Stanford and No. 2 Arkansas the opening 36 holes, will go late-early for their first two tee times.

Sophomore Maylis Lamoure will be the first player off for Carolina at Omni La Costa at 2:50 p.m. (ET) in round one. Clippd will have live scoring the duration of the tournament here.

Teams will play 54-holes of stroke play the first three days with a cut to the top-15 for Monday’s final round of stroke play, also known as the medal round. An individual NCAA Champion will be crowned and the top-eight teams after 72 holes will advance to match play on Tuesday. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will take place Tuesday with the National Championship match set for Wednesday.

Golf Channel will provide live TV coverage Monday thru Wednesday.

Lamoure is joined in the lineup by four familiar faces in senior All-Americans Louise Rydqvist, Hannah Darling, freshman Eila Galitsky and graduate Sophia Burnett. All five players in the lineup earned All-SEC honors for the SEC Champion Gamecocks. It was the most All-SEC selections in program history. Sophomore Vairana Heck will serve as the team’s substitute and can be subbed in at any point prior to the start of a round.

The Gamecocks will be making the program’s fifth-straight NCAA Championship appearance (22^nd all-time appearance) this week. It’s the 14^th appearance in 18 seasons under five-time SEC Coach of the Year Kalen Anderson. She has helped lead the Gamecocks to their three best finishes in program history at the National Championship (5th in 2012, T-5th in 2016 and T-5th in 2023). The Gamecocks are seeking the program’s third match play appearance under Anderson.

Carolina is one of 20 top-25 teams in the field this week. Seeding is done based off the latest Clippd Team Rankings and the Gamecocks will be the No. 3 seed. Carolina will be one of 10 teams representing the Southeastern Conference this week out west.
