No. 3 Gamecocks Eighth After 54-Holes of NCAA Championship

Carolina seeking a spot in the top-eight for match play after the final 18 holes Monday at La Costa

CARLSBAD, Calif. – No. 3 South Carolina sits eighth at 8-over for the tournament thru 54-holes of the 2025 NCAA Championship. The Gamecocks shot 9-over in tough conditions in the afternoon wave in round one on Friday, bouncing back nicely yesterday and today at La Costa with team scores of 286 (-2) in round two and 289 (+1) in round three.

Carolina, who makes the 15-team cut comfortably, sits just three shots back of No. 6 Texas heading into medal round Monday. The Gamecocks are five shots back of No. 2 Arkansas and No. 4 Florida State, who sit T-5th at 3-over. Carolina is seeking the program’s third match play appearance under head coach Kalen Anderson when the fourth round concludes tomorrow. The Gamecocks last made match play in 2023 at Grayhawk.

A trio of players sit inside the top-50 for Carolina in freshman standout Eila Galistky, senior All-American Louise Rydqvist and graduate Sophia Burnett. Galitksy sits T-13th at 2-under with scores of 71-68-75. Her 13 birdies lead the team and are T-2nd in the field. Rydqvist ist T-23rd at 1-over and has been steady with scores of 72-73-72. She holed out from the fairway today for eagle at the par-5 fourth hole and is one of just eight players in the field to make an eagle over the first 54-holes of the National Championship. Burnett is T-46th at 5-over, bouncing back nicely from an opening round 77 (+5) with back-to-back even par 72s the last two days.

Sophomore Maylis Lamoure and senior All-American Hannah Darling also bounced back from a tough opening round the last two days. Lamoure shot 74 and 72 today with a long birdie on the last hole of her third round at the par-4 ninth. Darling fired a pair of 1-over 73s the last two days making four birdies. She was a counting score both days helping the Gamecocks rise 13 spots on the leaderboard into the team’s current position.

The Gamecocks will be paired with the Longhorns and No. 8 Arizona State for the final 18 holes of stroke play Monday. Darling will be the first player off for Carolina at 2:56 p.m. (ET) from hole 10. Clippd will continue to have live scoring here. Golf Channel has live TV coverage of the final round tomorrow from 6 to 10 p.m. (ET) and will provide live coverage of match play as well on Tuesday and Wednesday.
