No. 20 Gamecocks Begin NCAA Championship Friday

Carolina making its first NCAA finals appearance since 2019 this week at Omni La Costa

CARLSBAD, Calif. – No. 20 South Carolina opens play at the NCAA Championship on Friday at Omni La Costa. The 15th-seeded Gamecocks will be paired with No. 16 Vanderbilt and No. 19 BYU for the first two rounds teeing off late-early.

Carolina will be the last team off in the afternoon wave for round one at 4:50 p.m. (ET) from hole 10 on Friday.

It’ll be the same five-man lineup that helped the team get through the NCAA Bremerton Regional led by redshirt junior Frankie Harris and senior All-American Nathan Franks in the top two spots. They will be joined by junior Zach Adams, redshirt freshman Ismael Encinas and sophomore Brock Blais. Freshman Marek Fleming will serve as the team’s sixth-player substitute.

The Gamecocks will be one of 19 teams in the 30 team field this week ranked in the top-25 of the latest Clippd Team Rankings. Carolina is one of 10 schools from the Southeastern Conference in the field this week at La Costa.

First-year head coach Rob Bradley has helped lead the team to its first NCAA Championship since 2019. It’s the 22nd all-time NCAA Championship appearance this week for the Gamecocks. Carolina had a trio of top-15 finishes from 2014-16 with a program-best T-5th finish in 2016 at Eugene Country Club in what was the program’s first and only match play appearance.
