
Baseball Trio Named CSC Academic All-District
COLUMBIA – Three University of South Carolina baseball student-athletes were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, it was announced this afternoon (Tuesday, June 3).
Matthew Becker, Parker Marlatt and Ethan Petry all were named to the team. Petry will advance to the Academic All-America ballot with the All-America teams announced on July 1.
All three Gamecocks have been on either the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll or the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll. Becker earns Academic All-District honors for the third straight year while Petry garners the All-District accolade for the second straight season.
To qualify for Academic All-District, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point-average. Graduate students must have a 3.50 GPA in both undergraduate and grad school. Student-athletes also must compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games or must start in at least 66 percent of the games. Pitchers must make either 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. Each school has a cap of five student-athletes on the Academic All-District list.
