Hamner Picks Up Third Consecutive CSC Academic All-America® Team Honor

AUSTIN, Texas – Recent graduate of the South Carolina women’s tennis team Sarah Hamner earned her third consecutive College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America selection, announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Hamner is one of 19 student-athletes selected to the 2024–25 DI Women’s Tennis Academic All-America Teams and one of six named to the second team. The Colorado native is only the second Gamecock in program history to earn Academic All-America honors. She was named to the third team in 2023 and first team in 2024. Prior to Hamner, Helen Crook was the first Gamecock to earn this recognition, named to the first team in 1994.

Hamner is one of the most decorated Gamecocks in program history, having earned numerous honors over her four years at South Carolina. Her accolades include four selections to the All-SEC First Team, 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, 2022 SEC All-Freshman Team, 2022 ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year, 2023 ITA Carolina Region Singles Champion, 2024 ITA East Sectional Singles Champion, and 2021 ITA All-American Singles Champion. She is also a two-time ITA All-American in both singles and doubles, a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member, a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, a four-time NCAA singles qualifier, and a two-time NCAA doubles qualifier.

During the 2024-25 season, Hamner surpassed the 100-win milestone in singles, finishing with a 19-10 overall record, including a 10-7 mark against ranked opponents while competing from the No. 1 position. In doubles play alongside Kaitlyn Carnicella, the pair posted a 12-8 record from the top spot, defeating eight ranked teams. Hamner consistently held a top-30 national ranking in both singles and doubles throughout the season, peaking at No. 13 in singles and No. 10 in doubles. Her standout moments included a win over Georgia’s No. 1 singles player and qualifying for her fourth consecutive NCAA Singles Championship following her victory at the ITA East Sectionals. Academically, she excelled as well, maintaining a 3.865 GPA as a marketing major.

Hamner was one of three Gamecocks to be named to the CSC Academic All-District Team last month, alongside Carnicella and Olympe Lancelot.

Most recently, Hamner and Carnicella were selected for the Inaugural U.S. Open Wild Card Playoffs. The two Gamecocks will play in doubles in the event from June 16 to 18 for a chance to play in the U.S. Open.
