ATLANTA – No. 2/2 South Carolina shot 50.0 percent from the field in a 91-82 win over No. 11/11 North Carolina in an exhibition game as part of the Bad Boy Mowers Series Thursday night.

 

NOTABLES

  • After tying things at 16 apiece, South Carolina finished the first quarter on a 10-3 run to put them up seven after the first 10 minutes, remaining on top for the rest of the game.
  • South Carolina dominated the paint, outscoring North Carolina by 20, 54-34.
  • Newcomer Ta’Niya Latson tied for a team high 19 points, finishing 7-for-12 from the floor and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line, in addition to a block and a steal.
  • Tessa Johnson also had 19 points with nine coming in the first quarter, hitting a team-high three 3s throughout the game while grabbing seven boards and a block.
  • Maryam Dauda had a strong outing, netting 10 points with her last bucket extending the Gamecocks’ lead to 15 late in the third quarter.
  • Maddy McDaniel produced on both sides of the ball scoring nine points with three boards, grabbing a steal and handing out four assists for the second-most on the team.
