Delaware State and South Dakota State will meet following the conclusion of South Carolina’s competition against the Hornets on Friday. The two teams will complete a half and conclude the match at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Gamecocks will then close out the weekend against the Hornets.

South Carolina will also honor the team’s seniors after the match on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT

The Gamecocks defeated then-No. 1 Georgia at home, 16-3. The win marked the first time that the program defeated the No. 1-ranked teams in back-to-back weeks and the most points in program history scored against the Bulldogs.

South Carolina extended the lead with a 4-0 sweep in Reining. The Gamecocks continued to dominate as the day closed with Flat, defeating the Bulldogs 4-1 once again. Jayne (83), Sarah Rabb (77.5), Vanessa McCaughley (75) and Amira Kettaneh (84.5) brought the Gamecocks to 16 points with their wins. Kettaneh’s score secured her fifth MOP honors of the year.

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS

Friday’s meeting with SDSU will be the 13th in program history. South Carolina leads the all-time series 11-1, and has won the last three matchups. The two teams last met when the Jackrabbits traveled to Blythewood during the spring slate of the 2023-24 season. The Gamecocks earned a 15-3 win and swept the MOP honors. Returner Mattie McNeill was one of the honorees.

The Jackrabbits enter Saturday’s meet coming off a close 10-9 loss to UC Davis at home. Despite the defeat, Adisyn Kuxhaus earned her third MOP of the season in Reining while Grace Gerbus took the honors in Horsemanship.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

Saturday’s meeting with Delaware State will be the 19th in program history. South Carolina leads the all-time series 16-2, and has won the last seven matchups dating back to 2017. The two teams last met in Delaware during the fall slate of the 2024-25 season, when the Gamecocks won 14-4 (Sept. 27). The win was South Carolina head coach Carol Gwin’s first at the helm of the program. Retuners Jipping, Jayne and Millet each won MOP honors for the meet.

The Hornets enter Friday’s meet coming off a 10-6 loss to Minnesota Crookston on the road.
