Nine Gamecocks Set to Compete at Women's NCAA Championships
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Nine athletes on the South Carolina women’s swimming & diving team are set to compete at the 2026 Women’s NCAA Championship inside McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., from Wed., March 18 to Sat., March 21.
Seven Gamecocks qualified for individual events, highlighted by Amy Riordan leading the group with three individual swimming events. Jordan Agliano, Breckin Gormley, Delaney Franklin, and Emma Reiser have two apiece, while Meghan Harnish and Ellery Ottem will join the group for the 800 freestyle relay.
Sophie Verzyl, entering the meet as the defending 1-meter and 3-meter SEC Champion, will represent the diving side. Verzyl punched her ticket in Athens, Ga., during the NCAA Zone B Championships after finishing first in the 1-meter (662.85) and second in the 3-meter (784.70).
Riordan heads into her third NCAA Championship appearance, coming off two school records at the SEC Championships last month in the 200 freestyle (1:43.60) and 100 backstroke (51.50). She heads into those events seeded 24th and 30th, respectively. The senior earned her highest seeding in the 200 backstroke (1:51.78), coming in at 17.
Emma Reiser notched her first bids to the NCAA Championships in the 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle following lifetime-best performances at SECs. The sophomore clocked her first NCAA A-cut in the 500 freestyle at the meet in a time of 4:41.28, knocking three seconds off her lifetime best. Reiser then reset her personal best from the conference championship in the 1650 freestyle (16:18.38) at the Bulldog Qualifying Meet to earn the invite for her second individual event.
Gormley qualified for her second consecutive NCAAs in the 500 freestyle (4:39.72) and 200 fly (1:56.21), coming off season bests in both events at SECs. Nora Fluck joins her for her second NCAAs in the 500 freestyle (4:42.82) and adds the 1650 freestyle (16:15.59).
Delaney Frankin and Jordan Agliano are both set to compete in two individual events in their second national championship meet. Agliano qualified for both butterfly events, clocking the 15th fastest time in the country with a time of 1:53.80 in the 200. Franklin earned a qualifying standard time of 1:57.15 and sits in 31st for the 200 IM and received the invite for the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:09.92.
The 800 freestyle relay, which consists of Riordan, Gormley, Harnish and Ottem, recorded an NCAA B-cut at SECs to get the invite for a spot in the meet with a time of 7:03.23
