Verzyl Wins First 3-Meter National Title in Program History

ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Sophie Verzyl secured the national title in the 3-meter dive on Friday evening inside the McAuley Aquatic Center. This marks her first national title and fourth All-American honor of her career after scoring a 387.90 in her final event as a Gamecock.

The Columbia, S.C. native is the first woman to win the 3-meter title in program history.

Amy Riordan, Delaney Franklin, Nora Fluck, Emma Reiser and Breckin Gormley were back in action as they competed in their respective individual events.

Riordan finished the 100 back prelims with a time of 53.22, placing her 50th. Franklin competed in her first event of the week in the 200 breaststroke. She turned in a 2:10.48, giving her a 35th-place finish.

The Gamecocks saw representation in the 500 free with three swimmers competing this morning. Gormely led the way in 25th with a time of 4:41.16. Reiser followed up in 29th (4:42.09) and Fluck rounded things out in 36th (4:43.88).

Heading into the final day of competition, South Carolina currently sits 17th overall. Prelims are scheduled for 10 a.m. and finals to follow at 6 p.m. All sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+. Viewing links and additional information about the event are available on the championship webpage.
