Gamecocks Conclude Outdoor Opening Weekend

CONWAY, SC. (March 21, 2026) – South Carolina Track & Field concluded their first outdoor meet of the season at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The women’s team finished runner-up with 108.33 points, while the men placed seventh with 51 points.

The Gamecock women captured five wins on the final day in Conway, S.C., while also tallying nine personal best marks. South Carolina finished 1-2-3-4 in the women’s 100m, led by Tristen Harris’ new personal best of 11.41 (1.4). Alexis Brown took home the crown in the women’s 200m sprint, running 22.88 (1.0) in her season debut. The final individual win for the women came from Ella Lucas in the discus, throwing 49.06m (160-11), winning by nearly 2.5 meters.

The Gamecocks do what they did best and secured the titles in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay. The quartet of Brown, McKenzie Travis, Maya Love and Kymora-Lee Williams clocked 44.74 in the first 4x100m relay of the season, earning 10 points for South Carolina. In the 4x400m relay, it was Love, Joslyn Hamilton, Travis and Williams sealing the deal with a time of 3:43.62.

On the men’s side, the Garnet & Black were responsible for three wins, including a pair from Robert Stitts Jr. The transfer sprinter opened his season with a win in the 100m, running 10.45 (10.447) and winning by .001 over Connecticut’s Medwin Odamtten who posted 10.45 (10.448). Stitts returned to the track in the 200m, capturing the title with a new personal best time of 20.70 (1.5). The final individual win came from David Warmington Jr. in the men’s 110-meter hurdle, crossing the finish line in 14.10 (1.6).

The Gamecocks will be back in action next week, as they head to Raleigh to compete in the Raleigh Relays. For the second consecutive week, South Carolina will compete in a three-day meet, beginning on Thursday, March 26.
