Gamecocks Drop Game Two of Series to LSU
COLUMBIA, S.C. – After winning game one last night in 12 innings, the 21st ranked South Carolina softball team (21-11, 1-4) dropped the second game of its series with No. 22 LSU (20-10, 2-6) 5-1 Saturday afternoon (Mar. 21).
Seven different players recorded a hit for the Gamecocks with Shae Anderson leading the way going 2-for-3 on the day. Josey Marron (1-2) started and took the loss after allowing one run on three hits in 1 1-3 innings.
The Gamecocks had a hit in each of the final six innings but were unable to push a run across until the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Anderson connected on a solo home run, her sixth of the season, to straight away center. The home run moved her into a tie for the team lead.
The Tigers got a run in the second, three in the fourth, all with two outs, and added on another in the sixth.
The rubber game of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m. for Lexi Winters Day as the first 100 fans will receive a Lexi Winters button.
