Randolph's Power, Stone's Start Leads Baseball to 9-4 Win over No. 4 Arkansas
COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team had four home runs, two off the bat of Jake Randolph, and used a solid start from Brandon Stone in a 9-4 win over No. 4 Arkansas Sunday afternoon (March 22) at Founders Park.
Carolina scored at least one run in each of the first four innings to take a 5-0 lead. A Beau Hollins RBI groundout plated the first run. Tyler Bak drove in Randolph in the second and Talmadge LeCroy belted a solo home run to left in the third. The Gamecocks then used home runs from Randolph and Bak in the fourth.
Arkansas scored a run in both the fifth and sixth but Carolina came back in the bottom of the sixth with Randolph’s second home run of the day, a two-run shot and a Bak double to right. Carolina ended its scoring in the seventh on a Luke Yuhasz’s RBI fielder’s choice.
Stone went 5.1 innings on the mound, striking out five and allowing five hits and two runs with two walks to move to 3-1 on the year. Carolina used six pitchers on the day. Logan Prisco struck out a batter in 1.1 innings. Parker Marlatt closed out the game, striking out a pair in an inning of work.
Randolph and Bak had three hits and three RBI each while Yuhasz had two hits. The Gamecocks had 12 hits on the day.
POSTGAME NOTES
- The Gamecock pitching staff allowed just three free passes in the win.
- The Gamecocks had two more doubles on the day and are now up to 56 on the year.
- Stone now leads the team in wins and has a 2.39 ERA.

South Carolina will now be away from home for the next four days, starting with a neutral-site contest against North Carolina at Truist Park in Charlotte. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
