Baseball Falls to No. 13 North Carolina in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE – The University of South Carolina baseball team dropped a 9-1 contest to No. 13 North Carolina Tuesday night (March 24) at Truist Field, home of the Charlotte Knights.
The Gamecocks plated a run in the top of the first as Jake Randolph continued his hot hitting with an RBI single that scored KJ Scobey. North Carolina answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
The score remained 2-1 until the sixth when a wild pitch plated a run. North Carolina put up a six-spot in the seventh off three hits, four walks and a hit by pitch.
Logan Prisco was great out of the pen, striking out five and allowing four hits and a run in 4.1 innings of work. The loss went to Connor Chicoli, who allowed a pair of runs in 1.1 innings.
Randolph and Beau Hollins had two hits apiece to lead Carolina’s offense.
POSTGAME NOTES
- Hollins is hitting .400 in the team’s last five games.
- Carolina used seven pitchers on the night.
- Attendance at Truist Field was 2,960.
