Cardi, Potts Earn NCEA Rider of the Month Honors
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 2 South Carolina Equestrian team earned two NCEA Rider of the Month awards for March. Sophomore Olivia Cardi earned the award for Reining, while junior Alexis Potts took home Horsemanship.
Cardi picked up two wins and an MOP to wrap up the regular season at home, first taking down her No. 10 South Dakota State opponent by six points. She continued her winning streak against Delaware State, defeating Bailey Henderson by 9.5 and earning her second MOP of the season to move to eight wins, the most of the Reining squad.
Potts finished out the month of March undefeated, also earning both available MOPs along the way. She put up the highest score of the day in both meets on the Western side and brought her season MOP total to six, the most in the NCEA for Horsemanship. The six MOPs place her at the No. 2 spot in the Gamecock record book for most in a season, and No. 1 overall for the most as a junior.
The Gamecocks (No. 2 seed) will travel to Auburn for the SEC Championship and open against No. 3-seeded Georgia on Friday, March 27, at 12:00 p.m. Fans can follow along with in-meet updates on X and Instagram, @GamecockEQ.
