Harris Earns SEC Golfer of the Week Honors

Redshirt senior All-American became all-time wins leader at South Carolina on Tuesday with his sixth career victory at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Redshirt senior All-American Frankie Harris earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors for the third time this season the league office announced on Wednesday. He shares Player of the Week recognition with Tennessee’s Lance Thompson and Georgia’s Carter Loflin.

The Boca Raton, Fla. won for the third time this season at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (March 22-24) helping the team to a runner-up finish as well. He shot 204 (-12) with scores of 67-63-74. His bogey free, 9-under 63 in round two tied for the lowest 18-hole score in program history.

Harris tied for the field lead with 17 birdies at Bulls Bay Golf Club and was also second in par-3 scoring average (-3, 2.80) and T-3rd in par-5 scoring average (-8, 4.47) in the 84-man field.

It marked his sixth career win as he surpassed three-time All-American Kyle Thompson (1997-2001) for the most individual wins in program history. The victory was also the 12th top-five of his three-year career at Carolina, which has him now T-4th most in program history with two-time All-American Will Starke (2012-16).

He’s been named SEC Golfer of the Week six times during his career in Garnet and Black, which is also a program record. His 70.52 scoring average in 29 career events played at South Carolina is the lowest score average all-time at Carolina.

Harris is currently ranked No. 12 in PGA TOUR U and will likely move up in the rankings with his victory at Bulls Bay. He sits No. 43 in the Clippd Player Rankings.
