Chris Downey

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 26, 2026) – South Carolina Track & Field opened the 2026 Raleigh Relays on Thursday at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.

The men’s distance squad carried the torch on the first day of action, led by a trio of program Top 10 marks. Elijah Poore carded the highest Top 10 advancement for the Gamecocks today, sliding into second all time in program history in the 3000m steeplechase after running 8:59.27. Poore’s mark set a new personal best and is only the second sub-9-minute time in program history.

Newcomers Edouard Lecrivain and Kaleb Burroughs left their marks on the men’s 1500m program list on day one in Raleigh. Lecrivain, a graduate transfer from Houston Christian, ran 3:42.79 to finish 21st overall and register the fourth fastest 1500m time in Gamecock history. Meanwhile Burroughs, a true freshman, made his collegiate outdoor debut with the sixth fastest mark in school history as he crossed the line in 3:43.36 to finish 27th overall.

The highest individual finish overall for the men’s squad today was Ellis Neighbors in the javelin, throwing 57.69m (189-3) to finish 14th overall. Hailey Sharkey was the lone female to compete today, finishing 19th in the women’s javelin after throwing 40.03m (131-4).

South Carolina returns to action tomorrow for day two of the Raleigh Relays with a full slate of events, beginning with the women’s discus at 10 a.m. and wrapping the day up with the women’s 10K at 10:05 p.m.
