Baseball Drops Saturday Contest at Georgia
ATHENS – The University of South Carolina baseball team fell to No. 7 Georgia, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon (March 28) at Foley Field.
Carolina put up a run in the first, using four walks, the final by KJ Scobey, to plate Tyler Bak. Georgia tied the game in the bottom of the second on a solo home run from Henry Allen.
The score stayed at 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth when Rylan Lujo hit a two-run home run to left.
Amp Phillips had another solid SEC start, going six innings and allowing five hits and three runs with three walks and a season-high nine strikeouts. Carolina only had two hits on the day, a double from Scobey and a single by Talmadge LeCroy.
POSTGAME NOTES
- Phillips now has 38 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched.
- Scobey leads the Gamecocks with 11 doubles after his one in the fourth.
- The Gamecocks walked seven times in today’s game.
