Track & Field Sweep Relays in Final Day in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 28, 2026) – Gamecock Track & Field closed the final day of the weekend with four overall wins, including sweeping all three relays at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.

The first win of the day came from the women’s 4x100m relay with Alexis Brown, Cynteria James, Zaya Akins and JaMeesia Ford setting a new meet record after crossing the line in 43.78. The quartet’s time ranks third in the NCAA East Region two weeks into the season.

Brown returned to the track for the women’s 200m, posting her second win of the day and her second 200m win of the season. The transfer sprinter ran a wind-aided 23.10 (2.8) to fend off the field, including teammate Maya Love who finished fourth with a time of 23.53 (2.8).

The women’s 4x400m relay squad of Ford, Akala Garrett, James and Akins closed the weekend in style with the fastest time in the NCAA this season. The Gamecock relay team won with a time of 3:29.27, just missing out on the program’s all-time Top 10 list.

On the men’s side, South Carolina competed in just two events, winning the 4x100m relay as Robert Stitts Jr., Josiah Wrice, Devan Crumpton and Jasauna Dennis clocked 40.05. The quartet ran in the first 4x100m relay this season for the Garnet & Black, opening the slate with the 17th fastest time in the East Region.

Stitts Jr., Wrice and Crumpton also competed in the 200m sprint, finishing 4-5-6 respectively. Stitts was able to cross the line in 20.88 (-0.7), while both Wrice and Crumpton recorded new wind-legal personal best times of 20.93.

The Gamecocks will make the trek to Gainesville, Fla. next week to compete in the highly coveted Pepsi Florida Relays on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.
