COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team dropped a midweek game in Charlotte against North Carolina and went 0-3 at No. 7 Georgia this week.

NOTES:
Amp Phillips had another strong start in SEC play. The junior from Lancaster, S.C., struck out a season-high nine while allowing five hits and three runs at Georgia on Saturday. Phillips has a 1.89 ERA on SEC contests this year with 18 strikeouts in 19 innings pitches and a .188 opponent’s batting average.
Talmadge LeCroy played in his 200th career game in a Gamecock uniform on Friday night against Georgia. LeCroy has 202 games under his belt, which is tied for 13th all-time at Carolina. Michael Campbell holds the school record with 255 games played.
Carolina had five doubles in the Georgia series, upping its season total to 61. KJ Scobey and Luke Yuhasz had two doubles apiece while Beau Hollins added one. Scobey now has 12 doubles on the season, which is tied with Mississippi State’s Ace Reese for the most in the SEC.
Carolina opens a five-game homestand on Tuesday night when the Gamecocks face Wofford. The Garnet and Black then jump back into SEC play with a three-game series against Texas that starts on Thursday night. That game will be televised on SEC Network.
