Baseball Opens Homestand Tuesday Night vs. Wofford
FOR STARTERS
- Carolina starts a five-game homestand on Tuesday night (March 31) when the Gamecocks face Wofford at Founders Park.
- First pitch for Tuesday’s game is at 6:30 p.m.
- Tuesday’s game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
- Tuesday’s game also will be broadcast on the Gamecock Sports Network presented by Learfield with Cade Crenshaw and Trey Dyson on the call.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
- The Terriers are coming off a three-game sweep over UNC Greensboro this past weekend.
- Logan Tribble was 3-for-5 with four RBI in the 6-3 win on Sunday.
- Tribble is hitting .400 with 25 RBI while Ben Timblin has a team-best 28 RBI.
- On the mound, Alec Bouchard is 4-1 with a 2.04 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 35.1 innings pitched.
- J. Edwards is in his third season at Wofford and 14th season on staff. He guided Wofford to 42 wins in his first season as head coach in 2024.
SERIES VS. WOFFORD
- Carolina holds a 78-25-1 all-time record against Wofford heading into Tuesday.
- The two teams met on Feb. 17 in Spartanburg with the Gamecocks winning 8-2.
- Connor Chicoli struck out four and allowed one run in five innings and KJ Scobey had four hits on the day.
- The series dates back to 1895 as Carolina is 52-12 all-time against the Terriers in Columbia.
RANDOLPH’S A BLAST
- Fifth-year senior Jake Randolph belted three home runs in the Arkansas series, including a pair in the 9-4 win over the Razorbacks on Sunday, March 22.
- Randolph had a two-run home run on Friday, one of three home runs by the Gamecocks in that game.
- Randolph then had home runs in consecutive at-bats against Arkansas on Sunday. His solo shot to lead off the fourth gave Carolina a 4-0 lead.
- He then had a two-run home run in the sixth, part of a three-run frame.
- Randolph hit a home run in the seventh inning at Georgia on March 29.
- Randolph currently is hitting .357 with eight runs scored and nine RBI.
STONE’S LIKE A ROCK
- Junior Brandon Stone earned his third win of the season in a 9-4 victory over Arkansas on March 22.
- Stone struck out five in 5.1 innings pitched, allowing five hits and two runs.
- Stone is now 3-1 on the year with a 3.23 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 30.2 innings pitched.
- Stone now has five career wins in Columbia with 76 strikeouts at Carolina.
GUNTHER NAMED SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
- Junior Josh Gunther was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week on March 2.
- Gunther, who made his first career start, went seven innings and allowed just three with no runs and 10 strikeouts to just one walk in a 7-0 win over No. 15 Clemson.
- Gunther ended five of his seven innings with a strikeout and retired the final six batters of the night.
- Clemson came into the game hitting .332 but Gunther and Alex Valentin combined on Carolina’s second shutout of the season.
- Gunther did not allow a hit or a run in Friday’s game against No. 23 Florida on March 13. He struck out five in his third career start.
AMP’D UP
- Amp Phillips did not allow an earned run in Carolina’s game at No. 23 Florida on Saturday night (March 14).
- Phillips pitched six innings for the Gamecocks and allowed five hits with three strikeouts.
- Phillips then went seven strong innings against Arkansas on March 21, striking out six and allowing one run on three hits.
- Phillips struck out a season high nine batters in six innings of work at Georgia on March 28.
- Phillips has two wins on the season to go along with a 2.68 ERA and a .197 opponent’s batting average.
UP NEXT
- Carolina hosts No. 2 Texas in a Thursday-Saturday series at Founders Park.
- Thursday and Friday’s games will start at 7 p.m. with Saturday’s game beginning at 2 p.m.
