Bak's Big Night Lifts Baseball to Run-Rule Win over Wofford

COLUMBIA – Tyler Bak had a career night at the dish as the University of South Carolina baseball team had 13 hits, cruising to an 11-1, seven-inning win over Wofford on Tuesday night (March 31) at Founders Park.

South Carolina jumped out to an early lead in the first, after Talmadge LeCroy brought inTyler Bak with an RBI single. Luke Yuhasz added another run on a double to left field to score LeCroy for a 2-0 lead.

Wofford scored a run in the fourth, but the Gamecocks exploded for a six-run inning in the fifth with two three-run homers from Will Craddock, his sixth of the year, and Tyler Bak, his fourth.

Patrick Evans’ second hit of the day was an RBI single to send Beau Hollins home in the sixth. Eric Parker tacked on another run in the sixth on a throwing error for a 10-1 lead.

Craddock sealed the 11-1 run-rule victory in the eighth with his second hit of the day, bringing KJ Scobey home from second on an RBI single.

Bak led the team with four hits while Craddock, Yuhasz and Evans had two apiece. Alex Valentin took the win on the night, as the Gamecocks’ pitching staff struck out nine.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • With his 120th walk, LeCroy moves into the top 10 in program history for bases on balls, tying Paul Hollins (1978-79-80-81).
  • Carolina used six pitchers throughout the game, with Alex Valentin getting his first career start for the Gamecocks. Cooper Parks, Patrick Dudley, Josh Gregoire and Elijah Foster all made an appearance on the mound, each tossing a scoreless inning of relief.
  • Bak’s four hits were a season high, tying his career high from when he played for the Terriers against Samford April 4, 2025.
