Gamecocks Scatter Ten Top-10 Program Marks in Final Day of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (April 4, 2026) – It was an all-around memorable day at Percy Beard Track for South Carolina Track & Field as the Gamecocks recorded 10 new Top 10 program marks in the final day of the Florida Relays, including a new program record in the women’s 800 meters.

Salma Elbadra was responsible for the new program record in the women’s 800m, winning the event with a new personal best time of 2:00.62. Eline Mast joined the program’s Top 10 list in the 800m as she was able to cross the line in 2:07.37 for a new personal best and the ninth fastest time in school history.

Akala Garrett was able to crack the Top 10 individually in the women’s 100-meter hurdle when she ran 13.17 (-0.2) to finish second in the preliminary round with the 10th fastest time in school history.

The final two Top 10 program marks came in both relays for the Gamecocks on Saturday, starting with the women’s 4x100m relay squad of Alexis Brown, Cynteria James, Joslyn Hamilton and JaMeesia Ford. The quartet carried the top spot heading into the finals and delivered a win with a time of 42.83 for the second fastest mark in school history. The 4x400m relay squad of Garrett, Ford, James and Zaya Akins closed the meet with another win in the invite section, crossing the finish line in a season best time of 3:25.12. The new season best mark for the quartet was good enough to rank third in school history.

On the men’s side, South Carolina competed in individual events only on the final day in Gainesville. Jaouad Khchina and Edouard Lecrivain kicked off the success for the men in the 800m, with Khchina taking bronze following a new personal best mark of 1:46.80 to rank third in school history. Lecrivain, making his 800m Gamecock debut, was able to clock 1:47.72 for the fourth best time in South Carolina history.

Sticking with the track events, Josiah Wrice and Devan Crumpton each secured new personal best times in the 400m, led by Wrice who won the event with a time of 44.96. The new personal best time for Wrice improved on his third place standing in the program’s Top 10 field. Crumpton finished fourth overall in the men’s 400m, crossing the line in 45.53 to jump into fifth in Gamecock history.

The final advancement on the day came from Khaliq Muhammad in the men’s pole vault. The talented freshman from California was able to take home the title in the pole vault after clearing a personal best height of 5.50m (18-0.5), finishing just .01 meters shy of tying the Gamecock program record. Muhammad settled for the second-best pole vault clearance in program history, securing his first outdoor collegiate win in the process.

The Gamecocks will take a much-needed weekend off next week before taking part in dual action meets on Thursday, April 16 – Saturday, April 18. South Carolina will compete in the Wake Forest Invitational (April 16-17) as well as head back to Gainesville, Fla. for the Tom Jones Invitational (April 17-18).
