Softball Returns Home to Host Busy Alumni Weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. – After spending the last two weeks on the road, the South Carolina softball team returns home to host No. 6 Florida April 10-12. It will be a busy weekend as the Gamecocks host alumni weekend, Sage Scarmardo Day, All for Alex, and Quincee Lilio day.

Friday will be Sage Scarmardo Day, where fans will receive a Sage Scarmardo button. Saturday’s game will be the SEC’s annual All for Alex game and the first 300 fans will receive an All for Alex T-shirt and Alumni Night. Sunday will be Tee Time at Beckham Field and Quincee Lilio Day, where the first 250 fans will receive a Masters inspired visor and fans will receive a Quincee Lilio button.

LEADING OFF

  • The 2026 season is the 53rd season for the Carolina Softball team.
  • This week in the polls the Gamecocks are ranked No. 24 in the USA Softball/ESPN and are receiving votes from the NFCA and D1Softball polls.
  • They’re 28th in the RPI with an overall strength of schedule of 5.
  • The Gamecocks have played more Top-25 RPI opponents than any other Division I program (20) and 10 more games still to play against Top-25 RPI teams.
    • The next closest is 16 by four programs (Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M).
  • The schedule also features six of the Top-7 RPI teams , the most of any program, Missouri is just behind with five of the Top-7
  • Based on current opponent winning percentage, the Gamecocks have the second toughest schedule in the nation. Opponents have a combined winning percentage of .677 (Arkansas, .685).
  • They also have the seventh toughest schedule remaining, with opponents having a combined winning percentage of .738.
  • Saturday’s game will be the annual All for Alex game.
    • All for Alex honors and recognizes Alex Wilcox, a member of the 2018 Mississippi State team. She inspired the nation with her courageous fight against ovarian cancer, but one that ultimately took her life in the summer of 2018.
    • The 15 SEC schools join together to wear teal or teal accents as the entire league recognizes her impact on the softball community nationwide and in the fight against ovarian cancer.
    • This is the sixth year of the campaign (2021). The Geaux Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness Foundation provided each school with an All for Alex shirt to be worn by teams and their respective staffs during pregame warm-ups. Videos will be played throughout each stadium on Saturday.
    • Carolina’s 2025 All for Alex game at LSU was postponed due to rain.
    • The Gamecocks are 1-3 all-time in All for Alex games.
  • Carolina opened SEC play with the defending National Champion for the second straight season. They opened 2025 at Oklahoma.
  • The Gamecocks are one of three teams in the nation with seven pitchers who have earned a win on the season (UCF, South Dakota State).
    • All seven Carolina pitchers on staff have earned at least one victory.
  • The walk-off win in the 12th inning against LSU was South Carolina’s longest game since a 6-4, 12-inning win at Clemson two years to the day, March. 20, 2024.
    • The 12-inning game was the longest game in Carolina Softball Stadium history.
    • It’s also tied for the fourth longest game in Division I this season.
  • Carolina is 11-23 all-time in Columbia but won the last series in 2023.
    • The Gamecocks won the first seven games of the season, six of which came during the first season of SEC softball in 1997.
    • In the last two meetings, the series is tied 3-3, with both squads taking the series on their home field.
  • Arianna Rodi hit her 50th career home run against Queens on March 1.
    • She currently sits 11th among active NCAA players in career home runs.
    • Rodi also ranks 4th among active NCAA players in career walks.
    • Quincee Lilio is 37th among active NCAA players in career walks.
  • Jori Heard ranks 29th among active Division I players with a 2.32 career ERA.
    • Nealy Lamb also ranks 37th with a 2.51 ERA.
  • As a team, South Carolina ranks 26th in the nation in ERA with a 2.83.
  • The Gamecocks rank among the top-40 in: double plays, fielding percentage, hit by pitches, hits allowed per game, and WHIP.
  • Arianna Rodi currently is 16th among Division I players with 0.88 walks per game.
  • Jori Heard ranks 10th in ERA with a 1.39.
    • She also ranks 28th in WHIP with a 0.99.
  • Emma Friedel ranks 36th in strikeouts per seven innings with 8.0.
  • Lexi Winters is second in the SEC with six runners caught stealing.

  • South Carolina is 193-430-1 (.310) against opponents ranked in the NFCA top 25 since 1995.
  • Broken down by site, the Gamecocks are 92-158 (.368) at home, 51-195 (.207) on the road and 50-77-1 (.395) in neutral-site outings.
