No. 18 South Carolina Split Results on Senior Day Against Stetson

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 18 South Carolina beach volleyball team split results against Stetson on Saturday afternoon at Wheeler Beach. The Gamecocks dropped the first match of the day, 3-2, but bounced back to grab a 3-2 win over the Hatters.

The Gamecocks picked up two points on the day, highlighted by a resilient three-set win from Brooke Balue and Rachel Hartmann on court two. After dropping the opening set, the pair rallied to win the second in extra points before closing out the match in the third, 20-22, 24-22, 15-13, tying the dual.

South Carolina also secured a point on court five, where Morgan Downs and Amelia Taft delivered a straight-set victory over Stetson, 21-19, 21-18.

The Hatters clinched the dual with wins on courts three and four, including a three-set battle against Juju Quintero and Julia Waugh on court four (21-18, 17-21, 15-9). The final match to finish came on court one, where Jolie Cranford and Peyton Yamagata pushed Stetson to three sets before narrowly falling 23-21, 19-21, 15-12.

In the second match of the day, the Gamecocks rallied for three-set victories on courts two, three and five. Balue and Hartmann evened the dual early with a comeback win on court two, rebounding from a first-set loss to defeat their opponent, 19-21, 21-17, 15-10.

South Carolina added another crucial point on court three, where Evie Ziffer and Lauren Lawson battled back after dropping the opening set to defeat Julia Czurylo and Zoe Flueckiger, 12-21, 21-15, 15-13.

The deciding point came from Morgan Downs and Amelia Taft on court five. After falling in the first set, the duo responded with two strong sets to secure the clinching victory for the Gamecocks, 17-21, 21-17, 15-10.
