Carnicella Earns All-SEC Honors
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Kaitlyn Carnicella earned All-SEC Second Team honors, the league announced Wednesday. This marks the second conference honor of Carnciella’s career, as she received All-SEC Second Team at the conclusion of last season.
The Whippany, N.J. native compiled a team-high 17-9 overall singles record, 5-6 SEC, while consistently playing from the No. 1 position all season. She is 5-7 when playing ranked opponents and picked up the match-winning point when she defeated the No. 28 player in the country to complete the upset of then-ranked No. 15 Tennessee. Carnicella is currently ranked No. 37 in the nation and peaked at No. 33.
On the doubles side, she notched an 11-11 doubles record playing with a trio of other Gamecocks. Carnicella is 8-7 when playing at the No. 2 spot and 3-1 when playing at the top position.
The Gamecocks find out their postseason plans during the NCAA Selection Show on April 27.
