Baseball Drops Second Game of Doubleheader at LSU

BATON ROUGE – The University of South Carolina baseball team fell in game two of a doubleheader to LSU, 7-3, Saturday night (May 2) at Alex Box Stadium.

Tyler Bak got the Gamecocks on the board in the first with an opposite-field home run, his sixth of the season. LSU tied the game with a run in the third, took the lead with a run in the fourth and went up 4-1 after a two-run home run from Mason Braun, part of a three-run fifth.

Cade Arrambide made it 6-1 in the seventh with a solo home run to left. An RBI groundout in the eighth gave the Tigers a 7-1 lead. Carolina plated a pair in the ninth with an RBI single from Jake Randolph and a passed ball.

Carolina had four hits on the day with RBIs from Bak and Randolph. Brandon Stone was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs and six hits in 4.1 innings pitched.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • Will Craddock extended his reached base streak to 11 games with a single in the eighth.
  • Carolina used five pitchers tonight with scoreless outings from Cooper Parks and Hudson Lee.
  • Carolina played a doubleheader for the third time this season.
