Khchina & Crumpton Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Championship
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 29, 2026) – South Carolina Men’s Track & Field concluded its participation in the NCAA East Regional on Friday night, sending a pair of student-athletes through to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore. on June 10-13.
Jaouad Khchina was the first person to secure his ticket to the NCAA Championship, finishing fifth overall and fifth in his heat of the 1500m quarterfinals after clocking 3:38.97. Khchina earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship for the first time during his outdoor career following Friday’s result.
Devan Crumpton secured his automatic spot in Eugene in the men’s 400m, running a new personal best time of 44.83 to finish third in his heat and seventh overall. The sophomore South Carolina native will be making his NCAA Outdoor Championship debut in two weeks after clocking the fourth fastest time in program history.
Jasauna Dennis also ran a new personal best time in the 400m, narrowly missing out on a spot in Oregon after running 45.53 for the sixth best time in school history. Crumpton and Dennis were two of the four legs in the men’s 4x400m relay, joined by Andrew Salvodon and Kaleb Burroughs as the quartet finished 14th overall in the field after running a season best time of 3:03.69. The quartet’s new season best time ranks as the eighth fastest outdoor 4x400m relay time in Gamecock history.
The Gamecock women will close out the NCAA East Regional tomorrow, looking to secure more tickets to the NCAA Championship. South Carolina has 15 entries spread across nine events in hopes of joining Tristen Harris and Jathiyah Muhammad who secured their tickets on Thursday afternoon. The first event tomorrow will be the women’s 4x100m relay at 5 p.m., with the final event being the women’s 4x400m relay at 8:45 p.m.
