Gamecock Women Advance Five to Finals; Secure Two All-American Honors
EUGENE, Ore. (June 11, 2026) – South Carolina Women’s Track & Field competed in nine events on Thursday afternoon in the semifinal day of the NCAA Outdoor Championship at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The Gamecocks saw five entries advance to the finals on Saturday, while also earning two Second Team All-American nods.
Joslyn Hamilton and Tristen Harris each secured Second Team All-American honors in their NCAA Outdoor Championship debuts. Hamilton placed 13th in the 100-meter hurdles, running 12.94 (1.5) to earn her first collegiate All-American nod. Harris just missed out on advancing to the final round of jumps after finishing 10th in the long jump with 6.43m (21-1.25) for her first collegiate All-American honor.
South Carolina advanced to the final round in the 100m, 200m, 1500m, 4x100m relay and the 400-meter hurdles. JaMeesia Ford placed seventh in the 100m semifinal round, running 11.02 (1.9) to qualify on time. Alexis Brown was able to advance in the 200m, clocking 22.58 (1.1) to earn the final at-large spot into Saturday’s finale. Salma Elbadra secured 11th overall in the semifinal round of the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:09.70 and placing within the top five of her heat to capture an automatic spot in the finale. Akala Garrett was the final individual Gamecock to qualify in her respective event, holding the top overall spot in the semifinal round of the 400mH after running 54.49.
The women’s 4x100m relay squad of Brown, Cynteria James, Kymora-Lee Williams and Ford earned an automatic qualifying spot on Saturday, running 42.44 to finish fourth overall in the semifinal round.
The Gamecock Women’s team will return to action on Saturday to close out the 2026 track & field season. South Carolina will compete in five events on Saturday, beginning with the 4x100m relay at 8:02 p.m. (ET) and ending with the 200m at 9:37 p.m. (ET).
