Four Gamecocks Secure Spots on Team USA for World U20 Championships
EUGENE, Ore. (June 22, 2026) – Over the weekend, nine Gamecock student-athletes competed in the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. vying for a spot on the USA U20 team. Four of the student-athletes earned passage on Team USA ahead of the World U20 Championships that will take place August 5-9 in Oregon.
Incoming freshman D’Anna Cotton finished with the highest placement among the Gamecock representatives, winning the triple jump after reaching a mark of 13.13m (43-1). The North Carolina native also competed in the Nike Outdoor Nationals over the weekend in Oregon, finishing third overall in the triple jump with a distance of 12.65m (41-6).
Kaleb Burroughs earned his spot on the U20 championship squad after placing runner-up in the men’s 800m, running 1:48.68 during the finale. The rising sophomore advanced to the final round after clocking 1:50.24 in the preliminary round.
Two more incoming freshmen will lace up the spikes for Team USA in August as Justin Arogundade and Cameron Tucker accomplished the feat. Arogundade finished with silver medalist honors in the men’s triple jump, posting a mark of 15.96m (52-4.5). Meanwhile, Tucker will compete on the men’s 4x400m relay squad following his bronze medal finish in the open 400m, running 45.15.
