Gamecocks Down No. 24 Clemson for Palmetto Series Point

COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina women’s soccer (2-1-0) took down Clemson (0-1-2) in thrilling fashion, shutting the Tigers out 1-0 in the final minutes of the game. The Gamecocks broke a four-year draw streak and defeated Clemson for the first time since 2018 (1-0, Aug. 19). The victory also happened in front of a record-breaking crowd, with Stone Stadium boasting 7,004 fans. It was the most ever for a men’s or women’s game in Stone, and the 5,000-plus students also broke a previous record.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Offense came to play early as South Carolina put up a quick shot attempt in the seventh minute. Clemson responded shortly after with an attempt of their own, but it was saved by fifth-year keeper Christina Tsaousis.
• The first half ended scoreless but not without four more attempts by Clemson. Tsaousis tallied two saves going into halftime.
• The Gamecocks kept up energy going into the second half, putting up two chances with one on target.
• Clemson put up a shot to follow, but it was blocked by the South Carolina defense.
• With 10 minutes left to go, a yellow card on South Carolina’s Dempsey McMahon resulted in a free kick for Clemson. The Tigers attempted two shots; the first saved by Tsaousis, the second missing just wide.
• With just six minutes remaining, Cuyler Zulauf put the Gamecocks on top with a rocket to the right side just inside the 18′ for her first goal of the season and the 10th of her career
• Tsaousis ended with a season-high tying four saves and her second shutout of the 2026 campaign thus far
• Stone Stadium hit a new record for attendance in a thrilling win for the Gamecocks; their first time beating Clemson since 2018.
• 10 of 12 wins against Clemson have now come in shutout fashion
