Baseball to Play Four Fall Games in the Palmetto State

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team will play four exhibition games against outside competition this fall, head coach Kevin Schnall announced Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 26).

Carolina will play its first three games on Fridays in October and wrap up the exhibition schedule at the beginning of November. The Gamecocks face High Point at Founders Park on Friday, Oct. 9. Carolina heads to Bull St. to face the College of Charleston at Segra Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies, on Friday, Oct. 16. The Garnet and Black hosts Winthrop on Friday, Oct. 23 and the final fall game will be against Duke on Sunday, Nov. 1 at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg, S.C., home of the Hub City Spartanburgers.

The NCAA started in 2018 to allow Division I baseball teams to play two fall exhibitions against outside opponents without counting against the spring schedule. This is the first year that teams are allowed to play four games against outside competition in the fall.

There will be free admission to the two games at Founders Park (Oct. 9 & 23). Tickets for the College of Charleston game will be available for purchase for the general public this Friday (Aug. 28) at 10 a.m. Ticket information on the Duke game will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

The four games are part of Carolina’s fall practice schedule. Full team practice will begin on Monday, Sept. 28.
