Reese Slater Named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Senior transfer Reese Slater has been named the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. This marks the first conference nod for Slater, and the first of the season for South Carolina.

Slater has appeared in all eight games so far this season, starting three during her first year as a Gamecock. The midfielder helped South Carolina to a top-25 win over No. 23 Florida on Thursday (Sept. 10), scoring the game-winner in the 39th minute off an assist from fellow senior Autumn Cayelli. It was Slater’s second goal as a Gamecock this year, and the second in as many games after scoring in South Carolina’s 6-1 rout over Charleston the game prior. The goal also marked the first game-winner of the season for Slater and the second of her career.

Slater and the rest of the Gamecocks will hit the road for their first road SEC match of the season, taking on LSU on Friday, Sept. 18 at 8:00 p.m.
