Trio of Gamecocks Earn SEC Weekly Awards

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Three Gamecocks earned SEC Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards, the league announced Tuesday. Senior Max Spencer was named Men’s Diver of the Week, while senior Delaney Franklin earned Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors and fifth-year Kyleigh Kidd was named Women’s Diver of the Week.

Franklin shared the weekly honor after recording three event wins and two pool records at UNCW. The Columbia, S.C., native posted a 2:00.23 in the 200-yard butterfly, a David B. Allen Natatorium-record 2:12.10 in the 200-yard breaststroke and a David B. Allen Natatorium-record 2:00.30 in the 200-yard individual medley.

In her Gamecock debut, Kidd earned a win and a runner-up finish on the boards. She claimed the 3-meter title with a score of 267.30 and finished second in the 1-meter with a score of 261.15.

Spencer also secured a win and a runner-up finish for South Carolina, taking first in the 1-meter with a score of 324.53 and second in the 3-meter with a score of 380.03.
