Gamecocks Pick Up First Draw of the Season

STARKVILLE, MS – The No. 11-ranked Gamecocks (10-1-1, 4-0-1) picked up a 0-0 draw against Mississippi State (7-1-4, 1-0-4) Friday night, earning a point in conference play and remaining unbeaten for the last 10 consecutive matchups of the season. The 0-0 tie marked the eighth clean sheet on the year.

The Gamecocks and Bulldogs battled for possession all match long, finishing the first half with four shots each. Mississippi State then doubled their chances in the remaining 45 minutes, but a save by fifth-year Gamecock keeper Christina Tsaousis and a pair of blocked shots kept the Bulldogs off the board.

South Carolina had their strongest chance of the night in the 87th minute by senior captain Cuyler Zulauf, with a laser from the top of the box just missing the upper corner of the net by inches.

Corners became the name of the game, with South Carolina taking 10 to the Bulldogs’ seven. Tsaousis finished with a season high of five saves.
