- Swam three events during his freshman season (100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle)
- Placed second in the 100 butterfly at the Virginia Tech Invite (50.26)
- Tied for second in the 100 freestyle at the Virgina Tech Invite (45.97)
- Had five top-five finishes on the season in the 50 freestyle and nine top-five finishes in all events
