Bryan Risner joined the Carolina athletic department as assistant athletics director and director of major gifts in July 2006. He was promoted to associate athletics director for development in 2008.

Before arriving at the University of South Carolina, Risner was the assistant athletic director for development at the University of Louisville, dealing primarily with the major gift needs of the athletic department. While in Louisville, Risner oversaw the major gift office that raised funds for the building of a baseball stadium, natatorium, lacrosse stadium, indoor practice facility, golf practice facility, and basketball/volleyball practice facility. Prior to his time spent at Louisville, Risner served as the director of development for Vanderbilt University’s athletic program and helped raise over $75 million.

A native of Mishawaka, Ind., Risner is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) where he was a scholarship football player for the Redhawks. Risner and his wife Elizabeth have three children, Kathryn, Jackson, and Evelyn.
