Trey Money
Trey Money is in his fifth season working on the Carolina football staff in 2026 and his first as the Linebackers Coach. He has fast-tracked his way up the coaching chain during that time, earning three promotions along the way.
Money joined the Gamecocks’ coaching staff in 2022 as a graduate assistant. The following year, he was promoted to an analyst role working with the linebackers. In 2024, he spent the first of two years as an assistant linebackers coach, working closely with defensive coordinator Clayton White. In January 2026, he was given the title and responsibiliies of Linebackers Coach.
During his time in Columbia, Money has developed standout linebackers Demetrius Knight Jr., Bam Martin-Scott and Debo Williams. Knight and Martin-Scott took their talents to the NFL with Knight being a second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals, while Williams was an All-SEC selection.
Money came to Columbia after a two-year stint at his alma mater, Appalachian State where he worked in quality control with the Mountaineer linebackers.
Money also began his coaching career at App State, where he spent four seasons – three as a student assistant (2014-16) and one as a G.A. (2017). During that time, App State compiled a 37-14 record, won bowl games in each of its first three seasons as full-fledged members of NCAA Division I FBS (2015-17) and claimed back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships (2016-17).
Sandwiched between his two stints at App State, Money spent one year at Georgia Tech as a G.A. working with the inside linebackers, then one year at Louisville as a G.A. assisting the safeties.
Money graduated from App State in 2017 with a degree in finance.
He and his wife, Alli, have a son named Tripp.
