2017 SEC Academic Honor Roll

2017
Indoors: Won the triple jump at the first two meets of the season, the Clemson Invitational and Vanderbilt Invitational… jumped 52-1 at Vanderbilt, a new indoor PR and the second-best mark in school history… scored for the Gamecocks with a fifth-place result at the SEC Championships, where he notched a jump of 51-0 3/4… just missed the NCAA Indoor Championships cut, ending the regular season with the nation’s 17th-best mark.
Outdoors: Did not compete.

2016
Indoors: Had a solid indoor season, recording a PR in the long jump and triple jump… won the long jump at the USC Open #1… hit a long jump PR at the SEC Championship, reaching 24-4 1/4 to take seventh overall… that mark ranks fifth in school history, best by any Gamecock since 2006… the triple jump remained his forte, he broke 50 feet at three different meets… finished third at the Conference Clash, jumping 50-9 1/4 for a new personal best… that ranks fourth in school history… placed 10th at the conference championship (50-4 3/4).
Outdoors: East Regional qualifier in the triple jump, but was scratched due to injury… matched his long jump PR at the Spec Towns Invite, where he finished fifth overall (23-11 3/4)… also won the triple jump at the Spec Towns meet, jumping a season-best 52-6… finished no worse than fourth at any regular season meet… came in fourth at the Penn Relays (51-10 1/2).

2015
Indoors: Placed second at the Virginia Tech Invite with an indoor-best mark of 50-6.25, which ranks as the fourth-best distance in program history… placed second at the Virginia Tech Challenge and 13th at the SEC Championship with a mark of 50-1.25.
Outdoors: Expanded into the long jump along with the triple jump for the Spring… placed second in his first long jump competition of the year, at the Shamrock Invite (23-8.75)… won the triple jump at the Crimson Tide Invite (48-3.25)… broke a 40-year old record for the triple jump after soaring for 54-0.5 at the Florida Relays, earning him the top mark in program history… the distance ranks third in the country… finished fifth at the Penn Relays (50-7.25)… set a new personal best in the long jump at SECs, finishing 11th (7.31 meters)… also finished 11th in the triple jump, going 51-3 for his second-best mark of the Spring… qualified for regionals in the triple jump, but was injured in competition and did not register a mark.

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Competed for one season at South Carolina State… in his first collegiate meet, he recorded a personal best in the triple jump to claim gold at the Bob Pollock Classic, hosted by Clemson… also competed on the football team at SCSU, playing in four games at linebacker.

PERSONAL
Born Dec. 21, 1994… son of Victoria and Benjamin Wamer… has five siblings… brother Ravon competed for North Greenville University’s track team and his sister Raven played basketball there as well.
