Expected to become a strong SEC contributor in the 200m and 400m … with a mix of short sprint speed and quarter-mile endurance, James is expected to be a consideration for both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

2006: The indoor season saw three separate events contested … in the 55m, ran a 6.50 in the semis of the USC Invitational … in the 200m, a season personal record was run at the Tyson Invitational, breaking the tape in 21.87 … in the 400m race, sped to a 49.14 finish at the New Balance Armory Collegiate Invitational … during the outdoor season, ran a few early 200m races before concentrating on the quarter mile … opened up his 200m campaign with a 21.93 at the Walt Disney Invitational … qualified for regionals in the 400 at the Orange & Purple Classic with a fine run of 47.07 … while at the East Regional Championships, ran 47.24 to finish 14th before running the second leg of the first place 4x400m relay team.

2005: Competed in the 200- and 400-meters during both the indoor and outdoor seasons as a true freshman … turned in his best times at the Tyson Invitational, running the 200m in 21.72 and the 400m in 47.47 … placed 15th in the SEC Indoor Championships in the 400m dash with a time of 47.56 … ran a 47.52 at the Last Chance Meet … ran his best 400m time of 46.92 during the outdoor season at the Tennessee Quad Meet … top 200m time of 21.52 was turned in at the Orange & Purple Classic … competed in both events at the SEC Outdoor Championships … finished 23rd in the 200 (21.79) and 19th in the 400 (48.00) … placed 15th in the 400m dash at the NCAA East Regional meet with a time of 47.52.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Presentation College in San Fernado, Trinidad & Tobago, in 2004 … lettered four times for coach Trevor James … also lettered in soccer … was a member of the World Junior team in 2003 and 2004, the Pan America Juniors and Pan American Seniors … was the 2004 World Junior bronze medalist in the 200-meters … awarded Most Outstanding Athlete in 2002.

PERSONAL: Jamil Junior James was born Sept. 16, 1986, in Trinidad & Tobago … parents are Trevor and Margaret James … pursuing a degree in retailing … also considered LSU, Tennessee and Auburn before choosing Carolina.
