Kendra Warren

Kendra Warren

Kendra Warren joined the University of South Carolina Track & Field coaching staff prior to the 2019 season, hired as the Director of Operations for cross country and both track & field programs. Warren will coordinate the daily operations for the Gamecocks, including team travel and management, while serving as the program’s liaison to the athletics department.

Warren is a former world-class athlete, a former ACC record-holder and a track and field coach with more than 20 years of experience in athlete development. She was the director of operations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2005-07 and in 2012. Warren also has experience as an administrator at the high school level, serving in roles such as the Director of Athletics and Director of Student Affairs and Admissions. Her most recent endeavor was with the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough, N.C. where she handled their budget, maintained an annual budget of over $600,000 and led a staff of 18 employees.

As a student-athlete, Warren was an eight-time All-America at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She graduated in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and was added to the Tar Heels’ Track and Field Hall of Honors in 2008. She was named to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team (All Sports) after she won 13 ACC Championships in various sprints event. She reached the finals of the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m and eventually earned a spot on the 1995 Pan American Games 4x400m relay team.

Warren, who holds the Tar Heels record in the 100m, also competed in the 1988 Olympic Trials in the 100, 200 and 400-meter events and qualified for the finals of the 400m in the 1992 Olympic Trials.

In addition to her success as an athlete, Warren has held several coaching and administrative roles, including serving as the director of operations at UNC from 2005-2007, head women’s track and field coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2007-2008 and assistant track and field coach at UNC and Emory.

Warren and her husband Terrence have a son, Jazz.
