Jon Melia

Jon Melia was named the head football athletic trainer at South Carolina on June 1, 2026.

Melia comes to Columbia after serving in a similar role at Tulane for three seasons from 2023-26.

Prior to Tulane, Melia spent five years at Arkansas where he worked as an assistant athletic trainer for three years (2018-21) before being promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer from 2021-23.

Melia also gained experience as a seasonal intern for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League from 2016-18.

A native of Rogers, Ark., Melia is an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer who holds two degrees from the University of Arkansas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology – applied exercise science in 2014, then received a master’s degree in athletic training in 2016.
