Miranda Matias

Miranda Matias joined the South Carolina Athletics staff in August 2026, bringing 11 years of academic performance experience to the department. As associate director of academics, she serves as the academic advisor for the Gamecocks’ women’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf teams.

Prior to her arrival in Columbia, Matias was an assistant director of academics at Maryland for five seasons (2021-26), supporting the Terrapins’ women’s basketball, softball and men’s golf programs. In addition to her academic advising role, she also oversaw the student-athlete summer bridge program and the exhausted eligibility program.

Matias served as an academic advisor for men’s basketball and men’s and women’s tennis for two years at the University of Nevada, Reno,  after spending the previous four as an academic performance specialist at the University at Buffalo, where she worked with student-athletes across multiple programs.

A native of Buffalo, NY, Matias earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University at Buffalo and a master of science in school counseling from Canisius University. As a former student-athlete, Matias attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the swimming and diving team.
