To Our Fans…

South Carolina Athletics would not be where it is today without the support of our amazing fans like yourself. Your endless support allows our student-athletes to succeed both in the classroom and on the field.

We’re excited to announce the next steps in our journey that will revolutionize the fan and student-athlete experience at the University of South Carolina as well as the city of Columbia, the State of South Carolina and college athletics as a whole.

This isn’t a journey we will be on alone, this is a journey we all will be on together, as Gamecocks, as we create The Future of Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Future

The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees gave its approval to the next step of the Williams-Brice Stadium project on May 22, 2025.

“We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for their leadership and thrilled to see this project take shape and receive the necessary approvals to proceed,” said USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati. “Our staff, along with key partners in Populous, Legends, Contract Construction, and Manhattan have put in a tremendous amount of work to begin construction following the conclusion of the 2025 football season. These approvals get us one significant step closer to that goal. In the coming months, we will be able to show Gamecock fans finalized concepts I know they will be excited about. These plans will impact all of our fans and significantly elevate their game day experience.”

Among the renovations and improvements being targeted in the project are additional premium areas, student section upgrades, locker room renovations, concourse improvements including concessions and restrooms, and back-of-house additions to better serve customers in the stadium.

In February 2023, we issued a formal Request for Information (RFI), which was the first step in determining the potential scope of this project as well as identifying possible development partners who have an interest in pursuing a comprehensive land use agreement with the University. After review of the RFI submissions, a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Stadium and Riverfront Area Development Project was issued in July of 2024.

The RFP included the potential development of more than 800 acres of undeveloped USC property situated adjacent the Congaree River, west of the existing Long Family Football Operations Facility as well as areas currently used as parking lots along Key Rd and the area north of the north end zone.

“This ambitious project will improve significantly the experience of our fans and supporters for many years to come. These improvements will also make our stadium more attractive to additional athletic and entertainment events, which could increase even further USC’s economic impact in Columbia and the Midlands.”
