To Our Fans…

South Carolina Athletics would not be where it is today without the support of our amazing fans like yourself. Your endless support allows our student-athletes to succeed both in the classroom and on the field.

We’re excited to announce the next steps in our journey that will revolutionize the fan and student-athlete experience at the University of South Carolina as well as the city of Columbia, the State of South Carolina and college athletics as a whole.

This isn’t a journey we will be on alone, this is a journey we all will be on together, as Gamecocks, as we create The Future of Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Future

The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees approved today the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to retain an architecture firm to design the initial phase in a transformational enhancement of Williams-Brice Stadium. The approval comes after a year of development of a master plan for Williams-Brice Stadium in partnership between the Department of Athletics and the University.

“Today is a significant day for our institution and I hope it is the beginning of many big milestones ahead as we realize this incredibly transformative vision that would have an impact on all areas of our university and the region,” said Chair of the Board of Trustees Thad H. Westbrook.

The Board of Trustees’ approval today comes after a year-long process of consultation and input with Nations Group, one of the nation’s leading stadium development experts; a widely distributed market survey and resulting analysis by Elevate, a leader in stadium and premium seating; and comprehensive financial modeling by USC staff. The project will initially focus on the design of the West and East Side of the stadium. Included in the initial plans are premium suites of varying sizes and the installation of club seats. Gamecock Club development staff will begin to engage with potential suite purchasers immediately.

Last year, we issued a formal Request for Information (RFI), which was the first step in determining the potential scope of this project as well as identifying possible development partners who have an interest in pursuing a comprehensive land use agreement with the University. After review of the RFI submissions, a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Stadium and Riverfront Area Development Project was issued in July of 2024.

The RFP included the potential development of more than 800 acres of undeveloped USC property situated adjacent the Congaree River, west of the existing Long Family Football Operations Facility as well as areas currently used as parking lots along Key Rd and the area north of the north end zone.

“This ambitious project will improve significantly the experience of our fans and supporters for many years to come. These improvements will also make our stadium more attractive to additional athletic and entertainment events, which could increase even further USC’s economic impact in Columbia and the Midlands.”
