PARRISH, Fla. – South Carolina’s women’s golf finished Tuesday’s final round of the Central District Invitational right where they started as the Gamecocks shot 305 (+17) to earn a tie for 11th-place at River Wilderness Golf Club just outside the Tampa Bay area.

Senior Corrine Carr led the way for the Gamecocks, shooting 75 (+3) on the final day to finish at 11-over-par 227 for the tournament, earning a tie for 31st place. Carr improved by five strokes over her second-round score as she wrapped up her week with a two-birdie, five-bogey performance.

Seniors Benedicte Toumpsin and Taylor Barrett, along with sophomore Katie Burnett, each posted matching rounds of 77 (+5) to round out the weekend. Toumpsin finished the week at 229 (+13), tied for 39th place, as she had an up-and-down day on Tuesday that included four birdies and four bogeys to go along with a double- and triple-bogey. Barrett had a pair of birdies to go along with five bogeys and a double as she finished her tournament at 231 (+15), tied for 50th. Burnett’s round was similar to Toumpsin’s as she went 36-41 with three birdies, four bogeys and two doubles. The sophomore concluded her tournament at 234 (+18).

Freshman Amanda Strang had a strong round going at 1-over par with just two holes to play, but a double bogey-bogey finish left her at 4-over 76 for the day and 19-over 235 for the tournament.

Florida ran away with the tournament title, shooting a three-day total of 857 (-7) to take a 29-stroke victory over runner-up TCU (+22). Fourth-ranked Purdue was third at 889 (+25). Gator sisters Isabelle and Marika Lendl shared medalist honors at 212 (-4) with Arkansas’ Kelli Shean in third place at even par.

South Carolina’s next tournament will be the Kinderlou Forest Challenge, which begins next Monday, March 1, in Valdosta, Ga.
