COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 36 South Carolina men’s tennis travels to Atlanta to take on No. 43 Georgia Tech on Sun., Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. The Gamecocks (1-0) were impressive in their season-opening win over Wofford last weekend and look to extend their strong beginning.

South Carolina opened its spring dual-match season with strong doubles play, led by the nation’s No. 27 duo of senior Diego Cubas and sophomore Ivan Machado, which brings an 8-4 season record into this weekend’s action. On the singles side, senior Pedro Campos stepped into the No. 1 slot last weekend and dispatched Wofford’s top player in straight sets. Machado was the most efficient Gamecock of the match, losing just one game in two sets at the No. 4 spot to lift his singles record to 7-5 this season.

The Yellow Jackets are undefeated in their first four matches this season, matching the Gamecocks with a 6-1 win over Wofford in their most recent outing. With a 14-2 record this season, junior Guillermo Gomez is ranked No. 4 in the nation. Junior Miguel Muguruza leads the team with 15 victories in just 18 matches so far this season.

South Carolina leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech 28-9-1 after winning last season’s meeting in Columbia 5-2. The Gamecocks have won two of the last three contests overall and are 11-5-1 against the Yellow Jackets when playing in Atlanta.
