WILMINGTON, N.C. – Led by an even-par day from sophomore Wesley Bryan, the No. 7 South Carolina men’s golf team stands in second place through 36 holes of play at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Gamecocks shot 294-294=588 (+12) as a team in Monday’s first two rounds at the Country Club of Landfall – Dye Course.
Bryan had rounds of 73-71=144 (E) to lead South Carolina on the first day and finds himself in a tie for sixth place heading into Tuesday’s final round. His older brother, senior George Bryan IV, is two shots back in a tie for 11th place after a 73-73=146 (+2). Redshirt freshman Clint Tolleson gave the Gamecocks three competitors in the tournament’s top 20 as he posted rounds of 73-76=149 (+5) to stand tied for 18th.
Senior Patrick Rada is tied for 24th place after shooting 76-74=150 (+6) on the opening day, and fellow senior Paul Woodbury shot 75-77=152 (+8) to tie for 33rd place through two rounds. Freshman Dean Hester, competing as an individual, is tied for 39th place at 153 (+9).
Augusta State, ranked 10th in the nation, leads the way through two rounds after posting the best team total in each of the first two rounds at 280-289=569 (-7). The Gamecocks are second at 12-over 588, with tournament host UNC Wilmington one shot back at 589 (+13). Augusta State’s Patrick Reed and East Carolina’s Jake Colley are tied for the individual lead at 139 (-5) with the Seahawks’ Josh Brock and the Jaguars’ Henrik Norlander in a third-place tie at 141 (-3).
